The PMN-PT (lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate) crystal family is known for its extremely high electromechanical coupling coefficient, high piezoelectric coefficient, high strain and low dielectric loss. As a result, ultrasonic probes and sensors of ferroelectric applications made from PMN-PT crystals are more sensitive and have broader bandwidth, and micro-actuators gain more strain.
Innovia manufactures 3 inch (71 mm) diameter PMN-PT crystal ingots and post-process crystal products. Known as the 1st generation piezo-crystals, PMN-PT crystal products are available in different shapes (plates, rings, wedges or boules), which can be provided as-sliced, as tested, as electroded, or as a turn-key project. Our engineering expertise in growing and processing PMN-PT crystal delights customers with high quality, good value and professional communication.
Innovia also manufactures PIN-PMN-PT (lead indium niobate-lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate) crystals, aka the 2nd generation piezo-crystals. Such crystals are particularly attractive to applications where higher ambient temperature and higher power are required. Doped with indium (In) and sometimes with trace of manganese (Mn), PIN-PMN-PT has higher rhombohedral-to-tetragonal transition temperature (TR-T) and higher coercive field (Ec) than PMN-PT, which makes it ideal candidate for medical ultrasound, non-destructive testing (NDT), SONAR, infrared and pyroelectric applications.
